Employment

FRN Employment Services provides person-centered employment support services to people with disabilities who would like to prepare for, find and retain competitive employment.

Programs & Services

The Family Resource Network helps individuals prepare for, find and keep work. To access our services you must be referred by one of the following agencies: NJ Commission for the Blind and Visually Impaired, NJ Division of Developmental Disabilities, NJ Division of Vocational Rehabilitation Services.

If you do not receive services from one of these agencies, a self-pay option is available.

Employment Information

New Jersey Work Incentives Network Support (NJWINS)

NJWINS is a Social Security Work Incentives Planning and Assistance program that assists SSI and SSDI beneficiaries of working age to protect benefits while exploring, starting, continuing or increasing work efforts, with the end goal of assisting them to transition from cash benefits to earnings and public health benefits to private health insurance options.

Paid Internships

The Internship to Career (I2C) program provides paid internships for students ages 14-21. Students will complete a 150-hour internship and participate in pre- and post-internship trainings on professionalism, advocacy, networking, and work readiness skills.

Supported Employment

Getting to Work (GTW) assists people with disabilities to prepare for, obtain and retain competitive employment. GTW is a CARF Accredited supported employment program for people with disabilities.

Employment Training

The EmployAbility Program is a free initiative designed to help individuals with disabilities build workplace skills, explore career opportunities, and gain hands-on experience through internships.

Other FRN Services

After School Respite

Kidz Korner is an After School program which provides homework assistance, recreational and leisure activities in group settings.

Center On Nutrition and Disability

Provides individualized and community-based nutrition education services and resources for people with disabilities and their caregivers.

Seizure Recognition & Response Training

Epilepsy Services of New Jersey (ESNJ) provides seizure recognition and first aid training to school personnel, students, and first responders across New Jersey.

Group Recreation

The Out N About (ONA) program is designed to offer adults with developmental disabilities group socialization opportunities throughout the year. ONA is a community inclusion service providing enrichment and recreational opportunities to enhance inclusion and participation in the community.

Webinars

Online presentations and trainings to support family caregivers and individuals with intellectual, developmental, and physical disabilities or chronic health conditions.

Respite

Respite is care provided to a youth or adult with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities, to provide temporary relief to the family/caregiver.

Epilepsy Scholarship Program

A scholarship opportunity for graduating New Jersey high school residents with a diagnosis of Epilepsy who plan on pursuing post secondary education at a college or vocational level.

Saturday Respite

A Saturday drop-off respite program for youth with intellectual and developmental disabilities ages 6–21. Held twice monthly from 10am–2pm in Mercer County, the program offers recreational group activities to promote social engagement and provide families with a meaningful break from caregiving responsibilities. Lunch is provided at each session.

Respite Getaways

The Respite Getaways program provides weekend-long respite care at a local hotel. This program is designed to give parents and families relief from caregiving responsibilities while providing socially engaging activities in the community for participants.

Epilepsy Public And Professional Presentations

Training and in-services on the medical, educational and social impact of epilepsy available to any interested organizations. Specialized training available for: school nurses, school personnel, students, seniors, first responders, and law enforcement.

Support Coordination

Using a Person-Centered team approach, Support Coordination honors the hopes and dreams of individuals and their families by facilitating a unique and individualized planning process that enables people and their families to make informed choices.

Autism Scholarship Program

A scholarship opportunity for graduating New Jersey high school residents with a diagnosis of Autism who plan on pursuing post secondary education at a college or vocational level.

Individual Supports

Individual Supports is a 1:1 service that assists participants in achieving and/or maintaining increased independence, productivity, enhanced family functioning, and inclusion in the community.

Assistive Tech/Home Mods

Referral-based program through DCF that assists families with the process for receiving assistive technology or home and vehicle modifications to enhance the independence of youth with intellectual, developmental, or physical disabilities.

Patient Assistance Program

Connects individuals living with epilepsy to information, tools, and community resources, including support in accessing treatment options, seizure-related devices, and temporary medication assistance for those experiencing financial hardship.

Camp NOVA

Camp NOVA is a week-long overnight camping experience for youth and adults with epilepsy and/or developmental disabilities. Campers participate in recreational and social opportunities throughout the week and will engage in activities such as swimming, ziplining, canoeing, ropes courses, archery, arts and crafts, game and move nights, campfires, and more!

Health Insurance Navigator

FRN Navigators provide expert assistance in preparing electronic and paper applications to establish eligibility and enroll in coverage through the Health Insurance Marketplace, Medicaid and CHIP.

Blind & Visually Impaired Scholarship Program

A scholarship opportunity for graduating New Jersey high school residents who are blind or visually impaired who plan on pursuing post secondary at a college or vocational level.

Community Based Supports

Community Based Supports is a 1:1 service provided in the community or in the home. Participants are supported through educational, enrichment, and recreational activities to enhance independence and inclusion in the community.

Informational & Referral

Provides information, resources, knowledge, direction and assistance to families, parents, caregivers, professionals and individuals with disabilities.
