Join us on Sunday, September 13th in Belmar, New Jersey for the 22nd annual Autism Beach Bash.
Raising a child with autism presents a unique set of challenges with regard to obtaining appropriate services, including adequate after school care and opportunities for social interaction.
We provide help for children and families with autism. Services include after school care, Saturday recreation and more. AFSNJ holds the largest gathering of autism families in NJ each year at the Annual Autism Beach Bash in Belmar.
The AFSNJ Annual Autism Beach Bash is held each summer on the 14th Ave. beach in Belmar, NJ and features a surf camp with Surfer’s Healing, a California based nonprofit specializing in working with children with special needs.

Looking for a Saturday respite program? Discover Respite Connections in Mercer County!
Join us for a FREE Saturday respite program supporting youth ages 6 to 21 with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Hosted by the Family Resource Network, this program offers engaging activities and opportunities for social connection.
Held twice a month on Saturdays from 10am to 2pm at The College of New Jersey, participants enjoy group-based recreational activities designed to build social skills and confidence. While youth connect and grow, families and caregivers receive a much-needed break to recharge.
Program Highlights:
• No cost to families
• Lunch provided at each event
• 3:1 participant-to-staff ratio
• Youth must reside in Mercer County

We’re Hiring: Camp NOVA On-Call Nurse
Join us this summer as a Camp NOVA On-Call Nurse and help ensure a safe, supportive camp experience for youth and adults living with epilepsy and intellectual and developmental disabilities.
Camp NOVA is a 7-day, 6-night overnight camp taking place July 18 to July 25, 2026, at Camp Linwood MacDonald in Sandyston, New Jersey. Two nurses will be on site throughout the duration of camp. If either on-site nurse becomes ill, needs to leave, or is otherwise unable to fulfill their responsibilities, the On-Call Nurse must be available during that week and promptly arrive at camp to provide coverage.
You’ll support our campers by:
- Administering and documenting prescribed medications if called on-site
- Staffing the infirmary and responding to injuries or medical needs
- Remaining on-call overnight for medical emergencies
- Reviewing medical records and collaborating with camp leadership on plans of care
- Providing medical guidance to Camp NOVA staff
- Participating in pre-camp staff training
This role is ideal for a mature, medically trained professional who is responsive, dependable, and committed to supporting individuals with epilepsy and developmental disabilities in an inclusive camp setting.
