For people living with epilepsy, and for the people who love them, it’s a chance to see a story like theirs in the spotlight.
Epilepsy Services of New Jersey is proud to bring Under the Lights to Princeton for a special screening with writer and director Miles Levin, whose own experience living with epilepsy helped shape the story he brought to the screen. Miles will join us in person for the screening, audience Q&A, poster signing, and meet-and-greet.
Under the Lights follows a teenager living with epilepsy as he takes a chance on one unforgettable night at prom. The film explores the tension between safety and independence, the desire to fit in, and what it means to be understood.
Written and directed by filmmaker Miles Levin, who lives with epilepsy, the feature grew from an award-winning short film into a broader effort to bring authentic epilepsy representation to the screen.
The Princeton screening is part of the Under the Lights Feature Screenings collection and includes an in-person filmmaker Q&A and free poster signing.

Miles Levin is an award-winning writer, director and public speaker living with epilepsy. His experience working at a camp for children with epilepsy inspired him to tell a story rooted in what he had lived and what he saw around him, including the stigma the campers faced and the limits of many traditional awareness efforts.
His award-winning Under the Lights short film grew into a feature and a wider conversation about how epilepsy is portrayed onscreen. Miles now travels the country sharing the film with epilepsy communities and audiences.
Miles will join us in Princeton for the screening, audience Q&A, poster signing, and meet-and-greet.
The movie carries PG to PG-13 themes, including light swearing and implied, light nudity.
The filmmakers followed the best available science to craft a film that is as safe as possible for photosensitive viewers. There is no standard or test available for a theatrical environment, given the many variables involved, so viewer discretion is advised.
