Scholarship Opportunities

Supporting the academic goals of New Jersey students with disabilities. Family Resource Network offers scholarships to support New Jersey high school seniors with disabilities as they pursue their educational and career goals. These $1,000 scholarships provide financial support for students with autism, epilepsy, or visual impairments who plan to attend college or vocational programs. These scholarships are administered by the Family Resource Network and its affiliates, including Autism Family Services of New Jersey and Epilepsy Services of New Jersey.  Available Scholarships for New Jersey Students with Disabilities The Family Resource Network offers several scholarship opportunities for New Jersey students with disabilities pursuing college or vocational education. Autism ScholarshipFor New Jersey high school graduates with a diagnosis of autism who are pursuing post-secondary education at a college or vocational program. Epilepsy ScholarshipFor New Jersey high school graduates with a diagnosis of epilepsy who are pursuing post-secondary education at a college or vocational program. He began his internship in March, which then led to a job offer and plans for further education! This opportunity not only provided Giovanni with a meaningful job but also boosted his confidence—something priceless. But here’s what really stands out—her joy and determination inspire everyone she meets.  FRN’s Home and Vehicles Modifications program provided life-changing tools for Quinn’s family, like a stair lift and pool lift. These tools give Quinn greater independence and moments of joy that transform her everyday life. 2019 Autism Scholarship Application

The 2019 Autism Family Services of New Jersey Scholarship Application Program is open to New Jersey residents with a diagnosis of Autism.  This scholarship is unique since it allows graduates pursuing a college, university, technical, trade, or vocational school level education to apply. The AFSNJ Scholarship is not solely based on academic achievement. Meaningful community volunteerism, participation in extra-curricular activities and essay response will all be considered when choosing recipients for these scholarships. Candidates do not need to be near the top of their class to be considered. All who are eligible are encouraged to apply. We encourage you to distribute this application to qualified high school seniors who may benefit. Should you have any questions, you may contact us at 1-800-336-5843 for further assistance. Deadline extension! All documents must be received by Friday, May 10, 2019 in order for your application to be reviewed. Please use separate sheets to complete the written part of this application. 2019 Epilepsy Scholarship Application

Epilepsy Services of New Jersey is pleased to announce that we are now accepting applications for our annual scholarship program for New Jersey high school seniors who have epilepsy. We anticipate offering at least two $1,000 scholarships this year. New Jersey high school seniors with epilepsy who plan to attend a college or university are eligible. Academic achievement, participation in activities and financial need will be considered. The extent of a student’s disability(s) will be taken into account as well, so that s/he need not be near the top of her/his class to qualify. Final awards will be made by the Epilepsy Services of New Jersey, which reserves the right not to make any awards. Documents needed for application: Copy of school transcript Letter verifying admission to college, university; if unavailable, please include the addresses and telephone numbers of the college admissions office to which you have applied Statement of diagnosis from a physician, indicating the type and severity of your seizures (and other disabilities, if applicable) Two letters of recommendations from any of the following: teacher, coach, guidance counselor, principal, employer, clergy Copy of the 2018 parents’ Federal Income Tax Return; if unavailable, please include a copy of parents’ 2017 Federal Income Tax Return Deadline Extension! All documents must be received by the Epilepsy Services of New Jersey by Friday, May 10, 2019 in order for your application to be reviewed. Caregivers of New Jersey Caregivers of New Jersey, an affiliate nonprofit of the Family Resource Network, is dedicated to supporting people with disabilities, older adults, and their family caregivers across New Jersey. We provide personalized support coordination services and caregiver resources to help individuals make informed choices, create person-centered life plans, and access programs that promote independence and community inclusion. As New Jersey’s central point of contact for caregiving issues, we connect families with information, advocacy, and a network of local caregiving coalitions. Our Support Coordination team assists individuals transitioning from developmental centers into community living, ensuring they choose where they live and who supports them. With more than 1 million caregivers in New Jersey, our mission is to raise awareness of their critical role, address their growing needs, and provide tools to reduce caregiver stress and burnout. GTW is a CARF Accredited supported employment program for people with disabilities. Campers participate in recreational and social opportunities throughout the week and will engage in activities such as swimming, ziplining, canoeing, ropes courses, archery, arts and crafts, game and move nights, campfires, and more! Learn More Epilepsy Public And Professional Presentations Training and in-services on the medical, educational and social impact of epilepsy available to any interested organizations. Specialized training available for: school nurses, school personnel, students, seniors, first responders, and law enforcement. Participants are supported through educational, enrichment, and recreational activities to enhance independence and inclusion in the community. Held twice monthly from 10am–2pm in Mercer County, the program offers recreational group activities to promote social engagement and provide families with a meaningful break from caregiving responsibilities. Lunch is provided at each session. Learn More Patient Assistance Program Connects individuals living with epilepsy to information, tools, and community resources, including support in accessing treatment options, seizure-related devices, and temporary medication assistance for those experiencing financial hardship. Employment & Transition

Employment FRN Employment Services provides person-centered employment support services to people with disabilities who would like to prepare for, find and retain competitive employment. Programs & Services The Family Resource Network helps individuals prepare for, find and keep work. To access our services you must be referred by one of the following agencies: NJ Commission for the Blind and Visually Impaired, NJ Division of Developmental Disabilities, NJ Division of Vocational Rehabilitation Services. If you do not receive services from one of these agencies, a self-pay option is available.
