Agency-Hired Respite

Agency-Hired Respite provides families with trusted, qualified respite workers who are recruited, trained, and employed by our agency. These workers offer a much-needed break from full-time caregiving responsibilities by providing care in the home or out in the community.
Families receive 90 hours of respite care every 90 days, with the flexibility to use those hours as needed throughout each authorization period.
If the family has already identified a respite worker, we are happy to hire and train them. The respite worker may be a relative or family friend, as long as they are not the child’s primary caregiver (such as a parent, guardian, or step-parent).
With Agency-Hired Respite, families can take a break with confidence—knowing their child is supported by a caring, trained professional.

What the Program Offers

Families who have a youth with an intellectual or developmental disability age 3-20.
The youth must be enrolled with PerformCare.

Who Provides Care

Trained and qualified respite workers who are employed by FRN.
A family can be hired as the respite worker as long as they are not the primary caregiver, such as a parent, guardian, or other legally responsible individual.

Meet Giovanni

Giovanni, an I2C participant, expressed interest in working with his hands and liking hardware stores. Soon after, he found his place at Rosedale Mills, a country store. He began his internship in March, which then led to a job offer and plans for further education! This opportunity not only provided Giovanni with a meaningful job but also boosted his confidence—something priceless. Giovanni calls Rosedale Mills his “home away from home.”

Meet Quinn

Meet Quinn, a spirited 12-year-old with Kleefstra Syndrome, a rare chromosomal condition that brings unique challenges to her daily life. But here’s what really stands out—her joy and determination inspire everyone she meets.

FRN’s Home and Vehicles Modifications program provided life-changing tools for Quinn’s family, like a stair lift and pool lift. These tools give Quinn greater independence and moments of joy that transform her everyday life.
