FRN runs several specialized programs for interested families and professionals in the fields of health, fitness and employment that you may want to learn more about.

After school care
Kidz Connect is an after school care program which helps participating families find, pay or create after school care for their child, under age 18, with a disability. This can include helping a family to access an existing after school care program, hiring an aide to come to the home or other type of after school support.
After School Institute (yoga, music and art)
The Family Resource Network is proud to announce the start of the After School Institute at the Toms River School Intermediate East. School aged children with intellectual & developmental disabilities and their sibling will be offered a new creative and social outlet through Yoga, Music, and Art Therapy. The courses will run for four week sessions monthly. Fees do apply. New dates will be announced as the 2012-2013 school year approaches.

Bounce Out the Stigma Basketball Camp
Bounce Out the Stigma Summer Basketball Camp, founded and directed by basketball showman "Mighty Mike" Simmel, is the first and only camp of its kind, creates an inviting atmosphere of counselor and peer support-and peer interaction-in which special children experience a fresh sense of freedom. In developing new motor skills through participation and personal success, our campers are taught to aim higher, tackling everyday challenges and troubles with greater confidence. Camp NOVA
Camp NOVA is a wonderful opportunity for children and young adults living with epilepsy and other developmental disabilities to enjoy summer camp. Camp NOVA, which provides an exciting and independent camping experience in an environment filled with fun experiences and memories that last a lifetime, is a one-week overnight camp for young people ages 15-28. Camp activities include acting, arts and crafts, boating, fishing, karate, swimming and yoga.

Employment
Getting to Work is a program of The Family Resource Network providing comprehensive services by: developing employment consistent with your interests, aptitude, and training connecting you to additional employment supports identifying funding sources to pay for those supports.
New Jersey WINS (Work Incentive Network Support) is a work incentive program providing work incentives planning and assistance to SSI and SSDI beneficiaries.
The Family Enrichment Network (FEN)
FEN is designed to assist Salem County families in establishing specific goals through family service plans and working towards becoming more self-sufficient. FEN also provides case management services for families in need and supports programs and free community events that encourage two-adult families. The Family Resource FOOD Network Cooking/Life Skills Series
The Family Resource FOOD Network is a cooking experience that teaches basic kitchen safety, safe food handling, healthy food options and appropriate sanitation. These sessions encourage teamwork, completion of assigned tasks and enhancement of planning skills in an environment that recognizes and accommodates different ways of learning. Participants will be involved in all aspects of menu planning for each session, food preparation and clean up. Instruction at The Family Resource FOOD Network will be provided by a certified special educator who was an owner/operator of the Young Chefs Academy and is ServSafe Food Handler certified. Fall and Winter Sessions are available. Cost: $ 125.00 per person.
Get FIT - Fitness Integration Training
The Get FIT movement aims to create health and fitness opportunities through overcoming perceived barriers for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities and caregivers. Get FIT strives to increase the capacity of health and wellness services, thereby giving all individuals the opportunity to make lifestyle changes to reach their health goals and to increase their quality of life. Kidz Connect 2
KIDZ Connect 2 helps school-age children with intellectual & developmental disabilities successfully integrate with their peers in existing after school programs. Free training & follow up support is provided to all after school staff within the program, along with a stipend paid to the after school program to help offset any additional costs that may arise when working with a student with disabilities.

Out-N-About
This program designed to offer teens and young adults with disabilities group recreational and socialization opportunities. Participants can partake in a variety of recreational trips and site based activities that will be coordinated throughout the year.
Pregnant Pause
This free, educational event in Ocean County places emphasis on the importance of a healthy pregnancy and prevention of Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders. FASDs are 100% preventable if a woman does not drink alcohol during pregnancy. The event includes educational speakers, tours of the maternity unit and community exhibitors. Other highlights of the event include refreshments, activities for fathers and children, door prizes from local salons, restaurants, shops, and special non-alcoholic beverages.
